Tony Carriuolo has extensive experience in a variety of fields, including complex business litigation, advocacy as special counsel to governmental bodies, adversarial proceedings adverse to public bodies, and engagements as special litigation counsel to Chapter 11 debtors in possession, bankruptcy trustees and major lenders. He has represented clients in shareholder disputes, trade litigation, controversies affecting real properties, and disputes resulting from governmental development decisions including inverse condemnation proceedings. His litigation practice has included employment-related cases, such as the successful pursuit of embezzlement claims, the defense of management before the federal courts involving claims of harassment, discrimination or wrongful termination, and litigation resulting from hiring raids between competitors. He has positive experience in managing parallel litigations pending in several districts (including international fora), with efficiency.
Tony has appeared as special litigation counsel in the United States Bankruptcy and District Courts for the District of Delaware, and the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Southern and Northern Districts of New York.
Representative Experience
- Represented several public bodies as special litigation counsel, including School Board of Broward County regarding inter-governmental funding disputes involving contractual, statutory or constitutional issues, and complex insurer disputes; Health Care District of Palm Beach County in actions relating to operation/control and budgeting of rural and urban hospitals, and associated creditor disputes; and the City of Pompano Beach in defense of inverse condemnation matters
- Creative representation of major developers of residential and commercial properties throughout Florida, in relation to ongoing financial turmoil, including defense/counterclaims in actions commenced by prime lenders
- Special litigation counsel to Chapter 11 debtors in possession, bankruptcy trustees and major lenders in large cases (Florida and elsewhere), including prosecution of major insurance claims, and major fraudulent transfer claims
- Adversarial proceedings at all levels of local government, representing aggrieved landowners/developers
- Representation of joint venturers/purchasers in complex real estate litigation
- International litigation involving alleged bank fraud
