Daniel Thompson Honored with Florida Bar Certification in State and Federal Government and Administrative Practice

Daniel H. Thompson, a shareholder with the Florida business law firm Berger Singerman has been awarded Board Certification in State and Federal Government and Administrative Practice byThe Florida Bar. This certification is the highest level of recognition given by The Florida Bar and reflects the attorney's extensive experience, professionalism and ethical practice in one or more of the 24 areas of law approved for certification by the Supreme Court of Florida. Only attorneys who have earned the Florida Bar's “board-certification” distinction are allowed to describe themselves as legal specialists or experts in a specific field of practice.
A lawyer who is a member in good standing of The Florida Bar and who meets the standards prescribed by the state's Supreme Court may become board certified.   The requirements include a minimum of five years in law practice, a satisfactory showing of substantial involvement in the field of law for which certification is sought, a passing grade on the examination required of all applicants, satisfactory peer review assessment of competence in the specialty field as well as character, ethics and professionalism in the practice of law,  and satisfaction of the certification area’s continuing legal education requirements.  

Thompson is a shareholder on the firm’s Government and Regulatory Team and specializes in resolving concerns that clients may have with governmental regulatory matters, with a particular emphasis on environmental and land use issues.  Prior to joining Berger Singerman, Thompson served as Deputy Secretary of Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

Thompson received his undergraduate degree from Yale University and his law degree, with honors, from Florida State University College of Law.  He is a member of The Florida Bar, President of the Board of Trustees of the Apalachee Land Conservancy,  Tallahassee Area Director of the Yale Alumni Schools Committee, and member of the Board of Directors for Florida Legal Services, Inc..  Thompson is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell and has been listed as a leading attorney in Florida Trend's Florida Legal Elite, The Best Lawyers in America, Florida Super Lawyers and Chambers USA, America’s Leading Business Lawyers.
