Frank Scruggs Named "Key Partner" by South Florida Business Journal
Frank Scruggs, a shareholder with the Florida business law firm Berger Singerman, has been named a “Key Partner” by the South Florida Business Journal for 2011.
The Key Partners Awards was created to honor the area's top attorneys and accountants, based on demonstrated success over the past year to 18 months. The South Florida Business Journal based their selection of honorees who are the best in their field, providing the highest quality of services to their clients, at the same time, exhibiting the highest levels of professionalism and ethics. Scruggs was be honored at an event on August 18th in Fort Lauderdale.
Scruggs is a shareholder and co-team manager of the firm’s Dispute Resolution Team. He advises employers regarding compliance with federal and state employment laws, using a distinctive combination of experiences: commercial litigator; executive in the public and private sectors; and member of the governing boards of major corporations. Scruggs advises companies regarding compliance risks in day-to-day operations and litigates cases that threaten the enterprise and brand. He uses preventive counseling to help employers avoid charges of discrimination, claims that misclassification of employees violates the Fair Labor Standards Act, the determination of independent contract status, and myriad other employment law issues. In addition to litigating employment law cases, he also tries complex commercial disputes. His board and civic and involvement includes service on the Boards of Directors of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida and the Board of Trustees of the University of Miami. He is also involved in the Broward Workshop.
He received his law degree from Harvard University, and has a Masters Degree in Public Affairs from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. He received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
