Paul Steven Singerman Named "Top 10 Florida Super Lawyers" By Florida Super Lawyer Magazine
Paul Steven Singerman, Co-CEO of the Florida business law firm Berger Singerman, has been named one of the 2010 Top 10 Florida Super Lawyers by Florida Super Lawyer magazine, an annual publication that recognizes the top five percent of attorneys in the state. Super Lawyers is a listing of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The list is compiled from peer nominations in which attorneys in Florida are asked to nominate their choice for the State’s best lawyers, based on individuals they have observed in action firsthand.
Singerman is active throughout the United States in large and complex restructuring, insolvency and bankruptcy cases. He has led the Berger Singerman team representing the first and second largest homebuilders to seek bankruptcy protection in the United States: Levitt & Sons and TOUSA. Inc. and its affiliates (as co-counsel to Kirkland & Ellis). Currently, Singerman represents the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors Taylor, Bean & Whitaker Mortgage Corp. (TBW). Prior to its bankruptcy, TBW was the largest independent mortgage originator in the United States. TBW is currently the largest chapter 11 case pending in the State of Florida. Additionally, Singerman leads the Berger Singerman team representing Judge Herbert Stettin as Chapter 11 Trustee for the law firm of Rothstein, Rosenfeldt & Adler, P.A. This case is amongst the largest Ponzi schemes in Florida history.
Singerman has consistently been recognized by his peers for his excellence in restructuring and bankruptcy matters as evidenced by his receiving the highest rating in Chambers USA, having been honored for being selected for Best Lawyers in America for 14 consecutive years, being named as one of Lawdragon’s leading 500 attorneys nationwide and having been elected as a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy. Singerman is past chair of the Business Law Section of The Florida Bar, and now serves on the Executive Council of this organization. In addition, he is on the Executive Board of Directors of the Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach.
He is President of the Southern District of Florida Bankruptcy Bar Association Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to Pro Bono endeavors. He is also a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, American College of Bankruptcy, Florida Association of Managing Partners, Commercial Law League of America and the Spellman-Hoeveler American Inn of Court.
Singerman received both his BS in Classical Studies, summa cum laude, and his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Florida.
