Stefanie Moon Appointed to Serve on the Committee to Study the Decline in Jury Trials for the Florida Bar

Stefanie C. Moon, of counsel with the Florida business law firm Berger Singerman, has been appointed by The Florida Bar  to serve on the Committee to Study the Decline in Jury Trials.

The mission of the committee is to research and analyze the trend of declining jury trial in both civil and criminal matters, in state and federal courts; determine the reasons for the decline and the impact that it has up on the justice system and the citizens of the state of Florida; report to the Board of Governors on any issues of concern; and recommend action if appropriate. 
 
Moon is a member of Berger Singerman’s Dispute Resolution Team.  She is also a member of the firm’s White Collar Criminal Defense and Special Investigations practice group.  Prior to joining Berger Singerman, Moon served as an Assistant United States Attorney with the United States Attorney’s Office, Southern District of Florida.  She was responsible for cases from investigation phase through post-trial motions; specifically responsible for interviewing witnesses, conducting discovery, negotiating settlements, writing briefs, and drafting all pretrial, trial and post-trial motions with memoranda. Moon’s experience in civil defense includes employment discrimination; social security disability benefits; immigration and naturalization status; and Federal Tort Claims Act matters.

Moon is a member of The Florida Bar, The Louisiana State Bar and U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.  She is also a member of Federal Bar Association-Broward County Chapter, Florida Bar Federal Court Practice Committee, Stephen R. Booher American Inns of Court, Corporate Counsel Women of Color, and the Broward County Bar Association. She received her undergraduate degree from Loyola University and her law degree from the Southern University Law Center.
