Michael J. Niles

Michael Niles is a partner on Berger Singerman’s Business Reorganization Team and Business, Finance & Tax Team in its Tallahassee office. Mike focuses his practice on commercial bankruptcy and creditors’ rights matters, bankruptcy litigation, and commercial real estate transactions.
Mike’s practice is primarily devoted to a wide range of insolvency matters, including representation of corporate and consumer clients in complex workouts, bankruptcies, assignment for the benefit of creditors and receiverships. He has also represented creditors committees and Chapter 7 trustees. In addition, his practice encompasses both the prosecution and defense of all forms of complex bankruptcy litigation, including preference, fraudulent transfers, and complex contested matters.
Additionally, Michael has extensive experience assisting property owners, developers, and lenders in commercial real estate, including the acquisition, sale, leasing, and development of real property.
- Represented creditors in bankruptcy proceedings filed under chapter 7, 11, and 13
- Assisted in the representation of an unsecured creditors committee in a healthcare insolvency related case
- Assisted clients in the purchase and sale of property from bankruptcy estates
- Represented both local and national developers, property owners, lenders, and borrowers in the acquisition, disposition, financing, leasing, and development of real property
- Experienced in commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, lending, long-term ground leasing and commercial leasing, corporate transactions and services, private and public land use restrictions and real property management
- Assisted in numerous commercial real estate transactions, including negotiation, document drafting, title review, survey review and other related due diligence matters
